Nasco 2021 Jos polo tourney kicks off
The eight-day tournament is holding at the Hassan Katsina Polo Field in Jos. Some of the teams featuring in competition are from Abuja, Kaduna, Yola, Zaria, Minna, Argungu, Maiduguri, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi and Keffi.
According to the Public Relations Officer and Vice Chairman, Nigerian Polo Commentators, Hassan Gashash, over N19 million has been budgeted for the international tournament, which kick off yesterday.
The teams, he said, are also coming with “over 130 players from abroad and they have arrived for the international Polo championship,” adding, however, that the organisers are worried by the poor response of sponsors to the event.
Meanwhile, Acting President, Jos Polo Federation (JPF), Edward Fom, has assured tourists and polo enthusiasts that the club will host the best winter polo fiesta that is expected to surpass previous editions in every respect.
Fom promised that with the full backing of the Plateau State Government, NASCO and other stakeholders, the organisers would deliver the 2021 fiesta in grand style.
“Whatever challenges there are, we will overcome because Plateau people are peace-loving polo enthusiasts, who will participate in their droves throughout the weeklong festival.”
